Did you know that 80% of worldwide blindness is preventable?

I am a medical student at the University of Illinois and have been selected to volunteer overseas with Unite for Sight (www.uniteforsight.org), an organization dedicated to eradicating preventable blindness by setting up eye clinics in underdeveloped areas, providing free glasses, and by funding surgeries that patients cannot afford.

My time will be spent serving at the Uma Eye Clinic (www.umaeyeclinic.in/) in Chennai, India.

While I am thrilled to be selected for this trip, my funds are limited as I live off of loans and a graduate student stipend. I would be very grateful for any support that you could provide to make this trip a reality.

Your donation will be used entirely for the budget of this volunteer trip as follows:

Mandatory Donation to Unite for Sight by Participant: $1375
Lowest Coach Class Airfare (Chicago --> Chennai) : $1430
Lodging/Food: $150 ($15/day)
Transportation: $40 ($4/day)

Immunizations (Malaria, Typhoid, Hep A, Rabies, J. Encephalitis): $1193
International Medical Insurance: $153

Total: $4416
